Data Analysis
It seems like the workload for doctoral committees is growing exponentially. Members of cohorts are busy with their own research, job demands, and life commitments. Sometimes, you need or want a thought partner or sounding board.
With a strong research background myself and having worked with 100+ doctoral students, I’ve developed an eye for data analysis–qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods. Truly my greatest joy in dissertation editing is supporting scholars with data analysis.
- Qualitative: making sense of interviews and textual analysis, picking out the best participant quotes, deciding when outliers are important, crafting a strong story from your interviews
- Quantitative: making sense of the numbers, seeing trends, organizing data in a way that strengthens and supports your research questions and hypotheses, explaining data that doesn’t align with your research questions and hypotheses
- Mixed Methods: tying the interview data and the numbers together, balancing the numbers and the humans
Data Presentation and Visualization
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. And, they’re right! Sometimes, it’s hard to get what’s in our heads out on paper in a way that makes sense to others. I love to work with folks on making that happen.
Maybe you’re challenged with what data to present. Maybe it’s figuring out how to present data without overwhelming your reader. Maybe you need a figure that sums things up in one image. This is one of my favorite parts of the planning, writing, and editing process!
